It is said that the most successful people in the workplace use their weekends wisely. They consciously make an effort to ensure that those precious 60 hours are spent truly switching off, so they can return to work the following Monday ready and rearing to go.
Taking some time to recharge is so important in today’s world. So often we spend our working days in a frantic race against impending deadlines and those never-ending lists of to-do’s. As the Monday to Friday stretch is all about maximizing productivity and efficiency, the weekend should be the time we all get to relax and unwind. Are you due to some quality, restoration?
Here are some ideas that we’ve pulled together to help you to achieve a relaxing weekend that you can enjoy without having to leave your home!
1. Have a Leisurely Breakfast or Brunch
There’s nothing more comforting than that first cup of coffee.
We suggest a slow first cup of coffee, take your time in brewing your own. Same goes for your first meal of the day. Take it slow, treat yourself to a cooked breakfast of eggs, toast with avocado and a side of mushrooms and tomatoes, for instance. Or, if you like it sweet why not take the time to whip up a batch of fluffy pancakes or french toast with cream, syrup and fresh fruits.
2. Relax Between the Pages of a Book
The weekend is the perfect time to get stuck into that book you’ve been waiting to read. Make yourself a hot cup of tea or coffee, light a candle and delegate a few hours to enjoy the escapism of your latest page-turner. Use this opportunity to get out anything that’s on your mind… you might find this inspires you to start journaling regularly. Some people are just good for the soul. Instead of your usual Sunday session out, invite your posse to your house for a lazy afternoon tea. Have a selection of teas, coffees, and juices pre-planned. Get creative and try home baking some cookies or scones for you and your friends to enjoy in the comfort of your living room. To truly relax, you might consider some yoga or meditation from home. If you’re not a seasoned yogi, there are plenty of apps and follow along videos on YouTube. Yoga with Adrienne is a popular YouTuber providing follow along yoga tutorials you can practice right from the comfort of your home.
7. Practice a Musical Instrument
This might not be realistic for everyone, but how many people start an instrument or a new hobby in general only to have the habit lost in the chaos of daily life? Why not take this time to wipe the dust off and relax into your old hobbies. Alternatively, try something new!
